2014

25 Sep 2014 - 12 Oct 2014
Plans for second peak Munro bagging trip of year now complete.

The plan is to go up Ben Lomond alone then join up with my good friend John Parkin and increase our joint Munro count together.

So with the 7 already visited this year on the Isle of Skye there should not be any problem achieving the 10 Munros target per year I set last year and with the 12 bagged last year will definitely meet the 20 target over the 2 years.

However at the rate of 10 per year I will be 86 by the time I visit my last Munro so suspect I ought to increase the target to maybe 20 per year that will take age out of the equation a little more.

It will still take over 14 years so if I do complete them by the time I am 71 I can always start my second round.

10 May 2014 - 17 May 2014
First Munro bagging trip for 2014 now booked in December 2013.

And what a bagging trip - Traverse of the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye including Sgùrr Dearg - The Inaccessible Pinnacle.

With the 11 Munros on the ridge along with an extra day on my own to visit  Blabheinn, makes a total of 12 Munros weather permitting, and hoping to double my current Munro count.

There are a maximum of 6 places available on this trip and at £425 for 1 weeks self catering accommodation along with 4 days accompanied by a qualified mountain guide on the ridge represents excellent value.
A minimum of 4 people are required for the trip to be viable and 3 are already booked.

If you fancy joining us contact Kendal Mountaineering Services.

For me it is a unique opportunity to attempt something I would not necessarily do on my own, or be able to do safely without the help of an experienced mountain guide.

2013

30 September 2013 - 18 October 2013
No peaks planned on this trip.

The main purpose of the trip is to walk The Great Glen Way in the reverse direction setting off from Inverness on Friday 04 October to Fort William Thursday 10 October.
In addition to walking in the reverse direction the schedule is to walk 7 consecutive days at a maximum of 12 miles per day (averaging just under 11 miles per day) rather than the recommended 6 days with a possible rest day and front loaded 18 mile walk on the first day from Inverness to Drumnadrochit followed by 14 miles from Drumnadrochit  to Invermoriston. Instead we will get to Invermoriston after 3 days with the final 4 days reverting to the recommended schedule.

The walk will be bracketed by a few days in Inverness before the walk and a few more days afterwards in Killin.
Doing touristy things like visiting Inverness Castle and/or Urquart Castle plus a train ride from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh as well visiting Stirling Castle and maybe walking a leg of the Rob Roy Way along shore of Loch Tay from Killin to Ardtalnaig .

05 September 2013 - 15 September 2013
The very first dedicated Munro bagging trip with my mate John Parkin who has carefully planned a 9 day walking schedule with 7 days walking, 2 rest days and 12 Munros weather permitting.
I will be going by train from Ipswich to Newcastle where I will be met by John in his VW campervan, from where we will head to West Lodge Caravan Park, Comrie for 3 nights, followed by 5 nights at Pine Trees Caravan Park, Tyndrum and finally 2 nights at Maragowan Caravan Club Site, Killin.
